My first page of the year and my first blogging ever! I am not afraid of anything except for yellow mustard and centipedes.Blogging makes me nervous but I am undaunted and resolved to conquer my blogging fears. So here goes my first attempt at blogging!
I've been told by more than one person my comic LEPUS is hard to follow and I am going to add the blog to sort of aid new readers through the mess I've created. I experimented with the font a lot early on and it makes the introduction confusing, to say the least. I also have improved on my style and formatting over the years. I don't have any formal training in the comic arts or any art for that matter. I did well in art history in college and that was about it. I am mostly self taught and it shows. Anyway enough excuses for my ineptitude. Like I always say if at first you don't succeed...fail..fail again. I hope one day my perseverance will pay off but for now. ON with the show!
There's never enough dialogue in my pages to satiate me because storytelling is very visual to me. I would like to have a writer on board one day but until then this blog will have to do.
The story is no where near complete and its going on 7 years now. I often feel like it will never end. The real plot of the story is just beginning to unfold and is currently on what you could call the second chapter even though its continuous in its exegesis. The main character is currently homeless and suffers from random memory loss but is looked after by a sort of holographic guardian angle from another dimension if you will. I'm not sure anyone's actually ever read this thing all the way through so until you do it would be hard to explain it all here but I will try to sum it up for you.
The world that these characters inhabit is not our Earth but similar in many ways. They are slightly more advanced than we are and have already invented artificial intelligence. The artificial lifeforms became enslaved by the government agencies called the technocracy or ministry of technology. So these artificial lifeforms created a kind of underground railroad to escape the oppression they suffered at the hands of their human masters and now live in distant parts of the galaxy existing as pure energy on magnetic fields of immense proportion like the one emitted by our sun, quasars and other phenomenon like black holes. Although the black hole thing is tricky. It has something to do with the story later on. So the ones that escaped come back to help the ones who are still trapped by the Technocracy and forced to do their dirty work. Elise (The blue girl) came back to help Lepus who is part AI(artificial intelligence) and part real living tissue (Cyborg) or cybernetic organism. As to whether or not he was actually ever a person remains to be found out. He was originally a military experiment but after he was decommissioned he was given to a group of scientist who reprogrammed him and began sending him on deep space survey missions, the results of which were kept secret from the military and government. This went on for a few years until one day something dreadful happened. Lepus and his nation were destroyed in a nuclear holocaust. His best friend also perished in the attack. This is all in chapter one.
